Science

 Science is the pursuit of Truth in the systems of God’s Creation. Since our God uses order to create, humankind is able to find patterns in creation that give us clues to the intelligent design of His creation. We believe man should use reason working in concert with faith to pursue Truth. The process of scientific discovery is one of many failures that eventually reveal Truth. To this end, Unity students will explore the growing nature of scientific knowledge which will continuously expand without ever being completed in this life. This will manifest in laboratory experiments and lab journals following the scientific method, seminar discussions on the evolution of scientific thought, and assessment exercises to measure the students’ ability to develop their own process of learning. Each of these activities are ideal for developing the essential skill of critical thinking. The ultimate goal of this department is to cultivate wonder of the world our students live in, which will lead them to a love of and sense of responsibility for the world around them.
